I will just let this speak for itself:
Hello,
In spirit of growing our brand and name we are looking to create a new logo for our restaurant. Amarcord Ristorante is an Italian restaurant with a fine dining atmosphere yet still presents a cozy environment that is relaxed. Amarcord is based on the Emilia Romagna region of Italy and the restaurant name was inspired by the movie Amarcord (Directed by Federico Fellini, 1973). Amarcord in Italian means “I remember”. I hope this gives you some ideas and let the best artist win. We ask that it is sent in a PDF format as well.
The winner of the logo creating contest will have their artwork appear on the front of our menu and website. You will also win a dinner for two of up to $100 value in our restaurant. The winner will be chosen by the Management team. All entries are due in by Tuesday, November 10th.
So in other words – you want someone to design a logo for you in exchange for dinner that is valued at $100.00 at your restaurant. Your cost for the meal will be about $25.00 and then you pretend that there is something amazing about having the logo that is designed for you for this amazing prize used on your menu and website to further your success?
This is crazy.
If you have that little money check out www.vivifiedweb.com they have website financing that may be of assistance to you.

Here are the lyrics:
Canada on strike!
Canada on Strike!
Canada!
Canada!
Canada!
Canada!
Canada on strike!
Canada says “no more!”
No more neglect! We want respect! That’s what we’re striking for!
All you bureaucrats and corporate cats can all just take a hike!
It’s Canada on strike!
Canada on strike!
From Vancouver to St. John’s,
We raise our middle fingers up for you all to sit upon!
And with our fingers up your ass you won’t be very psyched!
It’s Canada on strike!
And we will not bow or budge.
Our resolve is strong.
We even took three hours to rehearse this striking song!
Canada on strike!
No matter where you are!
If you are Canadian, than you’ve got do your part!
March out from the halls!
That’s right, suck my Canadian balls!
It’s Canada on strike!
It’s Canada on Strike!
It’s Canada on Strike!
It’s Canada
On Strike!

What a crap ball this idea is.
Let me see here – all I have to do is create the design for you to check out and sample from, upload it to a website for you to use as you wish, then beg you to approve my design?
Am I the only one that sees that this is doing work for free?
Back to the days of the Romans – the strongest wins? Like hell – the cheapest wins most times and these people are now thinking that they are going to take a logo that cost them $25.00 and become a successful overnight business?
I wish it worked that way, then I would be rich as well.

As seen live just a few moments ago!
We have an immediate opening for a GRAPHIC DESIGNER and PAPER LAYOUT individual in our Surrey location by a weekly
Community newspaper company. The individual we are looking for must be fluent in English and good in spelling and grammer.
Must also be a team player and punctual. Must be able to meet deadlines and work without supervision.
Please reply with your resume and references. DO NOT DIRECT TO ANY SITE AS THOSE WITH LINKS WILL BE DELETED.
Really speaks for itself. Send me a link, but don’t send me a link. What the hell do you want then? The postal address to my portfolio?

This is going to be the start of a huge rant as well as a visual representation of why I can’t stand Craigslist for finding new design contracts.
I cannot offer to much up front but we could work out a payment plan or equal compensation.
That pretty much sums it up to start with.
So let me see if I get this right. You are coming on here to find a person to design a website for you. Already you have told us that you either do not want to pay or you can’t pay. And then a little later in the ad you are asking to have samples of work sent to you like I am supposed to now beg you to choose me to do your work?
Are you fucking MAD?
I await the day when I can walk into Superstore and say to the cashier “Hi, I only have a little money but I would like you to give me enough food to feed my family of 217 people and I will pay compensation later.”
Yeah right.
If you want a job done then pay for it. Simple really. You are a business looking to hire a person and you have not yet learned this fundamental basis of industry?
This will become the largest tag section on here as I collect more.
*sigh*

Well, here is chapter one I suppose. I will not bore you yet with how it all started or why I am here. It is simple really – I wanted my own life, my own career, my own hours and all by my own rules. What I got was stress, strokes and heartache.
In the next few postings, as I have time, I will let you all know exactly how and hopefully why you should not make the same mistakes I have made.
Being a graphic designer was my dream, my passion and my demise. Like any other love, there is a harsh and bitter mate to cuddle.
Soon, there will be more.
Right now though, my phone is again ringing so I must go.
